Its all about the attitude toward college in America. I teach college freshmen and see the worst of it every day. Kids go to college without the motivation to succeed academically, they arent mature enough to know what they should study, so they go out and party and do the bare minimum, choosing the easiest possible major. Coincidentally, these majors tend to have piss poor job outlooks, whether from market conditions or from all the people who major in it. On top of that, they are maxing out loans and blowing money because it just feels like free money at that point. I want to shake my students sometimes. Probably 80% of them dont care or want to be there. CNN did a good documentary on it a few months ago called Ivory Tower. Worth a watch.
