Its amazing and sudden a call from radio Annapurna. Rishi ji requested me to join a talk program about Nursing Education and Profession and i accepted that talk even though I was quite busy because of very busy schedule of Friday. Some important tips of my talk with Rishi Khatiwoda in Dr saheb Program of Radio Annapurna is posted here. I would like to request to u all of mu Facebook friends, family members, colleagues, Nurses ( respected senior sisters and younger all) and my beloved students and all well wishers for listening and reading those information and suggests for an important part of advocacy to strengthen Nursing Profession in our country. This talk is totally devoted into Nursing education , opportunities, scope and challenges which are facing by more than 50000 Nepalese nurses in Nepal and abroad. Its really a pride that Nursing, a Profession that recalls the name of Florence Nightingale, is indeed one of the noblest profession in the world focused on continuity care, compassionate and dedication without any discrimination.“Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring without even a prescription” ‘Nurses are the heart of the Healthcare’ and that types of heart that never hardens, has a temper that never ties, and touch that never hurts’. NURSING IS SACRIFICING WITH AND FOR HUMANITY and ‘CARING IS THE ESSENCE OF NURSING’. Thats why its an altruism, dedicated, and prestigious social oriented profession in the world. It is the art of caring for sick people with the science of health care. It is an essential component of medical care in any form. Nurses constitute a major force in the national health care delivery system to maintain the nobility of nursing profession and reform health care in this new millennium through new efforts, approaches and commitments. Nursing education is to prepare today’s students to meet tomorrow’s challenges and grasp the opportunities with their proficient knowledge, attitude and skills. The growing body of nursing evidence based practice and the explosion of technological advances, challenges and stimulate the student nurses to acquire knowledge and refine critical thinking skills to strengthen the nursing profession in this changing world in health care delivery system. But in practice it is different scenario in Nepalese context after nursing education due to unemployment, narrowing scope of nursing practice which is extremely against of the Labour Act in private sector. So we nurses are worried about our profession, our nurses but couldnt advocate for their placement, job and career options which are an important issues of this decades. Till July, 2014 there are 50470 nurses are registered in Nepal Nursing Council but very few are engaged in work and a huge young generation are facing these types of frustration and seeking brain drain. Not only brain drain but also a volunteer for a long period without any opportunities. In this moment our professional organization NAN, NNC seems quiet and superior and expert nurses are in silent. Lack of sensitization of stakeholders, Policy Makers, expertise, and entire Country MOH, NGO/INGO, this profession is in shadow and being a male dominant profession. So we all nurses are more responsible to broaden the scope of nursing through advocacy and inspire to fight with all and country to grasp the opportunities that is transparent in growing world. Please listen this conversation and share your invaluable comments and need a storm in Nursing profession very soon. Thanks to Rishi Ji and entire team of Annapurna and request to media for sensitization to public, students, parents, teachers, all stakeholders to search the career options in near future . Please read through the newspaper kaskiaawaj of sunday for detailed conversation
