Its an interesting proposal, implemented after discussion with many local interests in business/labor, and the ultimate outcome will take time to determine. Personally, I would prefer good old fashioned collective bargaining on a case by case basis as opposed to a one-size solution such as this (and of course sound money as well.) However, given that we havent had sound money in nearly 100 years and business is violently opposed to collective bargaining (and has more or less crushed the labor movement) it looks like its this OR absolutely nothing. A lot of confirmation bias on display all around as this issue unfolds, but given that the only alternative offered by the right wingers that are losing their minds is, f**k em!, then I guess this is the only shot these folks have. Studies have shown a negligible impact on wage floors of up to $13/hr so this is a step into the unknown to some degree, but there is a window of implementation of 3-7 years depending on the size of a business and whether health benefits or tips are among the employee package as well. Science is about experimentation, so given the lack of other realistic proposals to address the third-world-ization of the US lets try it.
