Ive been eagerly awaiting Yakimas first snowfall of the holiday - TopicsExpress

Ive been eagerly awaiting Yakimas first snowfall of the holiday season. Yes, my holiday seasons encompass several calendar pages. In fact, as soon as I turn off the porch light on Halloween night, its Christmas Season! I wouldnt have it any other way. I even like the commercials. Back to the weather, though! Rumors uttered by prognosticating meteorologists (which, in the 50s, we used to refer to as the weather man) had it that snow could have been falling as early as 10 this morning. Well, its after 4:00 P.M. and I havent seen a single white hexagon drifting toward my yard. By the way, how do we know that no two snowflakes are alike? That matter aside, Ive busied myself with other issues related to Thanksgiving and Christmas. A second table on which to expand my railroad empire has been dragged into the garage. James J. Hill has nothing on me when it comes to empire building! My excuse, of course, was simply to keep the table from being damaged by all that snow. Anyway, whatever works. My bin of lights, extension cords, and outdoor surge protectors have been strategically placed on the back patio--a ladder at the ready. Two lighted reindeer, which Mark and I bought just after Christmas last year, are poised near the front of the garage in anticipation of our annual yuletide festivities. Theyre destined to spend a few weeks in our front yard. Bonny and I have already watched a few Hallmark movies. Lets see, the plot (which rarely varies) revolves around some family who come to town and are sad and grumpy during the lead-up to the local holiday season. Lo and behold, they move in across the street from an old guy named Nick who raises reindeer in his backyard. Anyway, Nick makes sure the grumpy guy marries the cute local gal and, voila! Christmas is saved! Just in case you dont get the Hallmark Channel, now you know what youre missing. A friend of Bonnys brought over some homemade Almond Roca a couple days ago, so I guess were officially allowed to increase our caloric intake exponentially. Little Milo must already be aware of a seasonal change, a disturbance in the force one might say. He managed a 20-minute afternoon nap today, and is having none of Bonnys sleepy-time coaxing. I get the distinct impression that this Christmas might be a real doozy! Still not snowing, and its almost time for more meteorological prognostication. I am giddy with anticipation!
