Its been a week, now, since we lost Robin Williams. For me, it took a few days for it to fully sink in; to really believe it. Nearly no one saw it coming. He was one we all assumed would live for decades to come, producing more of his art, for all to enjoy. Surely he had more in him. On the day that this tragic news broke, as well as the days that followed, there was such a beautiful outpouring of heartbreak and love for him, from seemingly everywhere. Many of you managed to say such remarkable things about Robin and how he personally affected you, while myself and others could only sit back in shock, still trying to process the events, and collect our thoughts on the matter. Its really an odd thing to feel such loss over someone for whom most of us never actually had the pleasure of meeting (I know I’ve never felt such a sunken feeling in my chest this way for anyone other than the loss of those close to me), but he was there in our lives all the same. As Jessie put it, we’ve all lost our favorite uncle. Through his acting roles, television interviews and personal actions, he taught us kindness, compassion, empathy, and optimism. Anyway… these are, essentially, the thoughts which I’ve found myself returning to over the past week. I feel it appropriate, in closing, to share this particular video that has been going around. It is (naturally) one of very, very many tribute videos that have been released since his passing; but I feel of all that I’ve seen thus far—even in its brevity of a mere 60 seconds—this one has been the most perfect and succinct. Thank you, Robin, for being such a fantastic part of all of our lives for so many years. We’ll make sure you’re still a part of it yet. youtu.be/6csfDT5ovps
