Its been nearly 30 years since I entered the Nation of Islam and it has been an incredible journey. Today I am the editor in chief of The FinalCall Newspaper but yesterday I was a proud foot soldier and top Final Call Newspaper salesman in Washington, DC. I was a member of the NOI Dopebusters anti-drug patrol in the 1980s and have covered politics, the White House, federal agencies, major civil rights groups, Black liberation organizations, major events (including the Million Man March, Hurricane Katrina, the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, the tenure of the late D.C. Mayor Marion Barry, the Iraq War, the uprising in Ferguson, Mo., and other historic moments) and traveled across the country and overseas. I have spoken to inmates, community groups and college students and been featured on television news and radio programs from Los Angeles to Miami to D.C. to Boston to Johannesburg in South Africa. I have traveled to Africa and the Caribbean and even touched down in Europe (even if was just the airport). I have presented at national conferences and at the Nation of Islams National Headquarters. I have had the great honor of working directly with the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and traveling internationally with him.
