Its been over 120 years since New Zeland became the first country to grant women the right to vote. It wasnt until after the second World War that the United Nations actually began to advocate for similar equalities. It took another 30 years after that for many of these countries to recognize and indeitify womens ability to vote and hold office as an inalienable and basic human right. As exciting as it is to see progress made, it still remains as important as ever to recognize the continuing efforts of this movement (as well as others).
