Its been pretty quiet what with being very busy with my job (that I love) and recently saying goodbye to Tia-Maria and Penroyd Rueben. Both have taught me alot over the last 7-8 years and to say I miss them terribly is an understatement. I have never ridden a horse such as Tia before, the day I went to try her we just *clicked* (although I was almost launched into outer-space as we clear a 4ft spread) and Rueben, our grumpy old man Anglo Arab but he was so loving in his own way he taught me to never take horses for granted as he would try his luck most days! For the speculators out there, the reasons why we said goodbye are our own, we have no need to explain our choices and if you cant ask me face to face but much prefer to gossip, then you can do, I dont let idle gossip define me anymore, said goodbye to that a long time ago when I realised how miserable it can make you. To those dear friends and family who sent messages and offered support, thank you very much. Im in a position to talk about it now (mostly) and we have our memories of the good times we had. So now to the future! Im looking forward to an extremely active year ahead with Sweet Lily who proved herself this year of being more than worthy when she put her trust in me! Completing our first x-country (cheers Linda Munro for excellent groom services, especially when I got my toe crushed! :p ) and getting a first rosette in a big jumping class...me...win??? I dont win....the horse did that...:p Then we also had the idiot who was riding the horse in the paddock, that set me back a lot, but winning that jumping class got me my nerve back before we had to say farewell to our other faithful beasties. Rueben and Tia had a good 2 - 3 years of semi-retirement and Im grateful I was in a position to do that, let them lark about the paddocks a bit...but when the medication doesnt work anymore, then you know its time. This week I had a blip, planning things then couldnt face it.....missing those 2 from my herd is difficult....but me and Pete are planning a couple of trips out over the holidays, just us and the horses...a beach trip and another ride somewhere, so we can reflect and remember Tias and Ruebens awesomeness. I guess the first job will be to clean Lily up, shes so mucky its difficult to see where the mud ends, and her colouring starts...... :p Heres to being a more stable horse year next year. :)
