Its been said that the quality of the questions we ask ourselves to a large degree the quality of our lives. There are 4 Big Questions that that are integral to any true learning experience. Engaging in this question will transform what ever activity you choose to engage in into Yoga in the sense that Yoga is skill in action as stated in the Bhagavad Gita. The Big 4 are: 1) Why do I choose to do this? 2) What do I need to do? 3) How do I do it? 4) What if....? Lets look at the first question in depth today. Why do I choose to do this? Now you may have to peel through the layers of the question why to get to the very heart of it, that which I call the touchstone why. For example, you may ask yourself why do I choose to do Hatha yoga?, and get the answer because I want to be more flexible. If you dig a bit deeper and ask why do I want to be more flexible?, you may get because I want to be healthier. Ask why do I want to be healthier? This may bring you to a deeper why. Or you may need to dig deepr still. As you peel through the superficial whys, it will take you to the true touchstone. You will know it because it will have a powerful emotional undertone. When you are able to stay connected to this deepest why on an emotional level, it will fuel you to keep moving forward on your chosen path. Mastery in any path brings obstacles. To gain preseverence, to have the ability to show up on a daily basis to practice the thing youve chosen, you need stay in touch with that deeper Why. So try this process, and blaze the path you are on with passion and commitment!
