Its finally here! The moment weve all been waiting for, the chance to send Monsanto, Dow Chemical and all of their corporate chemical cronies a message -- its time to label GMOs. The people want their voice heard and there is no greater opportunity than in Washington state RIGHT NOW. Ballots including Washington’s I-522, the ballot measure to require labeling of genetically engineered foods in the state, have been mailed to voters in Washington State, and ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 5th! Please take this moment, if you haven’t already, to vote Yes on I-522 and mail your ballot! Our opponents are doing what’s best for their bottom line even if it means keeping shoppers in the dark. They care about their profits, not our right to know. Chemical, food, and agribusiness powerhouses like Monsanto, Dow Chemical, DuPont and the Grocery Manufacturers Association have poured in an astounding $21.5 million to defeat I-522. The same agrichemical and food companies spent over $45 million dollars on a misleading campaign in California to defeat Proposition 37, and only won with a narrow 3 percent margin. They are attempting the same big spend strategy in Washington; anything to deny you your basic right to know. Why? Because millions of dollars to keep you in the dark is nothing compared to the billions made from contaminating our food and environment with pesticides. We can’t let that happen again.
