Its high time I stop undervaluing myself as artist. In the - TopicsExpress

Its high time I stop undervaluing myself as artist. In the beginning, I vowed to keep my prices reasonable in an effort to offer my art to a broader spectrum of people. As collectors and fellow successful artists approach me in an effort to share their experience, I find that my legitimacy as artist depends on how I value my work and that my prices may, in fact, be a hindrance to my success. Not that I embrace every word of advice they give, but I am under the impression that there is some truth in their conviction and a wealth of knowledge in their experience. Why shouldnt I charge what Im worth? Im good at what I do, there are very few people who see things as I see, and fewer who can create as I do. I have spent years researching symbolism and developing my craft as graphite artist. Isnt that experience alone enough to add wealth to my art? Perhaps the confidence I lack in placing the correct dollar amount upon my work is attributed to the mere fact that I am DRIVEN to conquer my abilities every single time I pick up a pencil. As an artist, my goal is to learn and experience; every piece I create then becomes practice for the next. And how do I price that? I couldnt tell you if Ill ever master my art spirit, but I do know, beyond a doubt, that I will do everything within my reach to better myself as an artist. Because I am worth every dollar spent and every dollar earned!
