Its important to involve everyone- right from designers/planners...masions...civic agencies and end users to know how and why of a design feature. In a study in Delhi with road owning agency the labor at site were briefed to lay tactile pavers in line and were not instructed to turn these around hazards/barriers. Engineers in workshops when asked about the purpose of these tactile pavers proudly confessed "these are for blind persons and to add colour to footpaths!" Hence, it is important for us- the users and the CSOs to bring into limelight these issues so as to reinforce in the minds of the road owning agencies that "enough is enough. Ignorance is no excuse to bad designs!!!"
