Its long past time for a new Mac, and I think Ive decided to cut the desk chains and get a Macbook Pro rather than an iMac. Performance of notebooks has improved though the screens and hard drives are frustratingly tiny. External hard drives already litter my desk (four of them) so I guess that leaves screen size as an objection. I know I can plug in to a big monitor but thats another expense. Portability wins though, I can work more if I dont have to be ensconced in my den. Question is whether to go new, relatively entry level or used (less than two years) and get a bit more RAM and screen. I can do 13 inch and 8gb RAM if I go new, but Ive seen several 15 inchers with 16gb of memory for the same money on Craigslist. Ive gotten six years from my iMac but I dont know about having someone else put the first two years on it...
