And secure anything down that could take off. **SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL** For people in areas including Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula and parts of the West Coast as well as other districts. Issued at 10:29 am Wednesday, 9 July 2014. Weather Situation : A cold front over eastern districts will move to the east of the State during the afternoon. A second front and associated low pressure system will affect southern coasts and ranges and the southeast of the State later this afternoon and evening. Warning : Strong and squally northwest winds will shift southwesterly following the first cold front. Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h are expected over areas north and west of about Kadina till mid afternoon, and then possibly developing over Kangaroo Island, Yorke Peninsula and the Mount Lofty Ranges districts from late afternoon. Localised heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding, is also possible over the Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North districts, possibly extending over Kangaroo Island and the South East district from late afternoon. Locations which may be affected include Kingscote, Port Lincoln, Woomera, Maitland and Clare. Rainfall totals over the Mount Lofty Ranges in the last 24 hours have been of the order of 20 to 50 mm. Wind gusts reported this morning have been 85 km/h at Wudinna and Thevenard and 78 km/h at Woomera The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees; * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Dont drive, ride or walk through flood water; * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains; * Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
