Its quite a ways off before all of the elections in November 2016. One race in particular is of importance to me.....Sheriff for Columbia County. Let me hear from you if you are willing to consider a professional lawman with nearly 30 years of experience and a track record of success. A man that will clearly illustrate his vision and goal for the Sheriffs Office, while simultaneously saving hundreds of thousands of dollars from the currently inflated budget. A man that will not take the entire salary of approx. $130,000.00 annually, but rather settle for substantially less and forfeit the balance by way of pay raises for employees. A man that will have an open door policy for all employees and citizens alike, without mandating a scheduled appointment. A man that will return all telephones calls daily before leaving the Office. A man that will not rely on a Public Information Officer (PIO) to conduct interviews and press releases regarding the Sheriffs Office, but rather respond to the scenes and handle these matters personally. A man that will be present often in Superior Court and Grand Jury as well as Probate, Juvenile and Magistrate Courts. A man that will treat folks from Leah, Winfield, Appling, Harlem, Grovetown, Pumkin Center, Evans and Martinez equally. A man that will be seen daily in areas throughout the entire County. A man that will proudly wear the uniform that all of his personnel wear, as well as riding with beat deputies and supervisors to get a real sense or pulse of the agency without relying upon other Command Personnel to tell what they think I want to hear. A man that will personally get out and travel to all of the surrounding law enforcement agencies to establish a stronger relationship and bond. A man that will ensure that all members of the Sheriffs Office treat Firemen, EMS and EMA and other emergency personnel with their due respect. A man that will create a work environment that promotes the importance of the family structure. A man that will treat a non-certified maintenance employee as important as a high ranking officer. A man that will personally attend Neighborhood Watch Programs as well as many other Community functions as the schedule will allow. A man that will run the agency with total transparency to all citizens. A man that will accept total responsibility for all failures within the agency. Now you could easily read back over this information, which merely just scratches the surface of the agenda, and replace the words A man used many times with A Sheriff. Let me hear opinions.
