Its the time of year to do a post on sunscreen safety. Im not talking about the need to use sunscreen, Im talking about the actually safety of your sunscreen. Did you know that about two-thirds of sunscreens on the market today have ingredients that when applied to skin and exposed to sunlight are carcinogenic! This is not to say do not use sunscreen, as it does help to prevent skin damage, just be sure to only use ones that are free of the cancer-causing ingredients along with following this full list of what NOT to use for sunscreen: No Oxybenzone No Retinyl Palmitate(VitaminA) No spray sunscreens No SPF above 50 No sunscreen/bug repellents combined No sunscreen powders or towelettes No tanning oils This is not something most people would even think about.
