Its time for Friday at 5, with Lorrie... I never considered - TopicsExpress

Its time for Friday at 5, with Lorrie... I never considered myself addicted to sugar. I was the person at the table who went back for thirds, never having room for dessert. I just figured sugar didnt mean that much to me. After switching to whole foods and finding balance in what I eat, I realized that sugar was present in every meal. I love fruit and, fortunately, that was my primary source. Natural sources or not, sugar in large doses turned out to be the cause of my migraines, cravings, mood swings, anxiety, erratic sleep patterns, weight gain, joint pain, hot flashes and energy crashes. Who knew that little old sugar could impact so much? I didnt declare war or give up sugar completely. Balance is key and moderation went a long way. By limiting my fruit to the morning, when I was sure to burn it off, things settled down. By giving up 100% of refined sugar and opting for cookies, cakes and my morning latte made with coconut sugar rather than white or brown sugar, I swore Id never look back. Finally, by reducing my intake of natural sugars to under 30 grams per day, my health and my life were forever altered. With these adjustments, the migraines and weight gain were gone. The rest of my problems followed them out in a few months. Never under-estimate the power of your choices. When you feel that just one bite of cake cant hurt, ask yourself again what youre willing to suffer for that bite. My recommendation is to choose natural over synthetic or highly processed and choose you over a momentary temptation. Do I still eat sugar? You bet. Does it still rule my life? Not a chance. ~Lorrie Since even honey causes me migraines, for this cake, I substitute the same amount of coconut sugar dissolved in a little water for the honey. I love it! detoxinista/2012/05/healthier-flourless-chocolate-cake-refined-sugar-free/ For clean desserts, please visit us at pinterest/onefitwidow/treats-sweets/
