Its time to quit doing it your way... Part of being a Christian - TopicsExpress

Its time to quit doing it your way... Part of being a Christian is recognizing that you are to be under authority and that you are to be accountable to others. The believer who separates themselves from Gods church and Gods people, cannot expect God to continue to bless them in the same way He does those who have humbly surrendered unto the Body of Christ; for if God were to do that, He would be violating His own Word. Each Christian is to join themselves to a local congregation where God allows their talents to be developed and to be used; where encouragement and truth can be found; where faith is increased through the increased teaching of the Word; and where spiritual leadership has been supplied for the purpose of bringing edification, correction, growth, and a Godly example. The Bible teaches that you have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and that your life is now hid within Christ (Colossians 3:2-4); It commands you to gather with other believers (Hebrews 10:24-25), and to share your gifts with them (1 Corinthians 12:1-30); It commands you to respect authority (Romans 13:1-8), and to submit yourself to others (Ephesians 5:21-6:4; Philippians 2:1-18); and it commands you to grow in your faith (Hebrews 5:11-6:3), and to live your Christian life in such a way, that you will be found blameless at the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:8-14). A simple reading of the Bible shows us that the time of doing it our way passed when we became born-again (2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Romans 6; Proverbs 3); and we cannot expect the abundant life by living a life contrary to Gods holy Word (Matthew 7:24-29). God forcefully resist those who live in their own strength; but yet He gladly receives those who humbly draw near (James 4:4-10). You could not save yourself; so why would you try to live your daily life by yourself? Satan is a deceiver. He wants you to be alone, and doing it your way. When you choose to be separated from the Body of Christ, you give a place to the devil; and without the covering of the Lords house, he is much freer to speak lies that are disguised as truth. Its time to do it Gods way. This whole notion that you can be just fine with once in a while church attendance, and occasional Bible reading must stop. Its time to be a people who know they have been redeemed; and who are intentional with their relationship with Jesus Christ. A consistent commitment reveals your heart and it gives you a strong witness before others. If you realize your commitment is not where God wants it to be - repent. 1 John 1:9, Revelation 3:19-21, and Psalm 51 will help you get right with God, as you begin to make Him the number One priority in your life (Matthew 6:33). May God bless you greatly as you draw near to our Sovereign Lord, Pastor Mike
