Its with great sadness that I need to inform this group that we lost a great SV guy today. My great, best friend Mark Stevensen (SVHS 1968)passed away suddenly early today at the age of 64. Mark had just retired and had a plane ticket for tomorrow to West Palm Beach for a planned extended stay with another very good friend, Kevin Magrath. Mark, Kevin and I, along with close good friends Buddy Rousset and Mark Riess (RIP...Mark passed away about one year ago) all were in the same kindergarten class at the Parish House in SV in 1955. Weve all been friends since....almost 60 years. The attached picture of Mark is from our 5th grade class picture at South Madison in 1960. Mark was always a sharp dresser and partial to sweaters. Mark and I were particularly close. In addition to going to school together and growing up on Fairview Ave together we worked together for almost 20 years at Republic Pictures in LA. It was Mark who helped me get the job many years ago that led to a long career and many good things in my life. To my daughters he was always Uncle Mark. He was there on the days they were born. Mark was smart, talented, generous, funny, sarcastic and a good friend to many. We shared so many experiences and adventures together. So many hysterical things that only he and I with our warped senses of humor would understand. I miss him already. He was my brother.
