It’s a weird thing, giving. Sometimes you give and people cry. Other times you give and people go, “Oh...” And then, before you can help it, a thought pops into your head: why am I doing this? Is it really worth it? The answer is always yes. Yes, it’s worth it. Because, by the time that someone is struck by the weight of midnight in their twelve hour night-shift, that cake you gave might just be the little boost they need. And then, while theyre chewing on the banana cake sprinkled with icing sugar, it might sink in for them that a stranger was kind to them for no reason. And then, next time they get the chance, they might just show kindness to a stranger as well. Or not. You’ll never know, will you? But that really shouldnt matter - caring should be unconditional.
