It’s been over a week since the class reunion and what a week. - TopicsExpress

It’s been over a week since the class reunion and what a week. This last week has been an emotional roller coaster. Thinking about comments that people had made about our time in school together it does seem just like yesterday seeing the groups of people that hung out together such as Marla, Beth, Beth, Chris, Jenny and then you have Brenda & Janice and I could go on. On the guys side there was Husker, Mark, Steve, Randy, Greg and again I could go on with Rick and Vince and these are just a handful of the 113 that I have mentioned. When I said it has been an emotional rollercoaster I’m talking about what my oldest daughter has gone through in the last few days with the drowning on her property and my 2 grandkids being there. That night a mother and father lost their child and will never see him again. I realize how lucky and proud a father I am. My oldest daughter is a very strong, good hearted mother with many accomplishments. My middle child was named the head coach of Eastern Pekin Volleyball program and my son heading into his Junior year at ISU pursuing his dream to become a game warden. I pondered on my accomplishments over the last 30 years and some of my classmates that I am aware of. I was going to put my own accomplishments down but I realized being a father of 3 beautiful, strong, healthy children I feel that is the biggest accomplishment of all. When I think back to conversations I’ve had with my classmates those that live here and those that don’t I find amazing how they view things. Some people say they hate to even drive through Paoli because they feel there is nothing but negativity there. Paoli is just a town such as a Church is just a Church. A handful of negative people should not make a negative town. As the class of ’84 all I heard about is being a family and being a friend over the last week. I’m not trying to be negative I just wish that what people say they meant because words are the strongest to hurt or to help anyone in this world. I was talking to Susan this week and she said some classmates hated other classmates and would not show because of things that had been said or done over 30 years ago. I can only hope that statement is wrong and we have matured since highschool. She also mentioned having a once a month get together with classmates that wanted to attend like a mini reunion. I think that is a great idea. Back to family…..there were some classmates that I believed to be more like brothers and you find out quickly who really are your friends and family when you go through an accident like I did 3 years ago and end up on your back for more than a year. I would have loved a call or visits from the ones I thought were the closest. Brenda, Beth P. and Jamia stayed in touch with me and I appreciated it greatly. Rick was my rock. He stopped by daily and helped me get through one of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you Rick, I hope you realize how much that meant to me. I love you man! I realize many did not know I was in an accident. It was more challenging mentally than physically. This is my contribution to the class reunion since I was not able to show. For those that commented about staying in touch I hope you follow up and do what you are asking others to do. I love all of you and look forward to seeing you in one of these monthly get togethers.
