It’s been quite a week over here in Beanland! I’ve been in the most intense pain Ive ever experienced in my entire life {& Ive given birth twice naturally after being induced}, still this was worse. Also half of my face has become completely paralyzed, everything on that side of my face has completely quit working, eye, mouth, nose… it’s the weirdest thing. The dr.’s feel that I am on the right meds to help my body recover, it’ll be a long road but I’m feeling more hopeful today than I have all week. For that I am thankful. In all of this I’ve been thinking about the dark times of life & what they do in us. I love this quote I came across… “ Out of the suffering emerge the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars.” It’s true, you know those people that you meet & they are so rich in wisdom, depth & heart & you can tell they have just been through something & that they are better for it. It’s in the darker times of life that we are humbled, we are strengthened, & we grow deep, life giving roots. I had a friend text me the other day and say “Sam, feel all the feelings.” That helped me so much. It freed me up to cry, embrace the pain & admit yes, this sucks right now and that’s ok. Without embracing the struggle & the pain we can miss out on something beautiful. So if you’re in a hard place today allow yourself to go there & feel it all and know that there’s purpose & beauty even in the depths of despair. You may not see or feel it today but you will…
