It’s common for a horse to carry the same shape in their body - TopicsExpress

It’s common for a horse to carry the same shape in their body from the first barrel all the way to the second barrel, meaning they enter the turn “inside out” with the rib cage to the inside and nose to the outside. It’s ideal for a horse to change leads and get shaped up for the second barrel as soon as possible after the first to ensure they are in good position for the second. If the horse doesn’t change their body shape, it makes a smooth, correct, efficient turn almost impossible, AND it becomes much more likely that they’ll dive in or tip the second barrel, in a desperate attempt to make the turn happen. FINISH each turn completely (not prematurely), THEN be preparing for the next barrel as soon as you finish the last one and you’re more likely to be in “good shape” by the time you get there!
