It’s finally here America! The Health insurance Marketplace - TopicsExpress

It’s finally here America! The Health insurance Marketplace opens today! The Affordable Care Act requires every American to have health-care coverage in 2014 or pay a tax penalty. Today, October 1, 2013 is the beginning of the Health Insurance marketplace. For the first time, people across the country can shop for health insurance the same way you shop for every other important purchase in your life. Individuals whose employer does not pay for health insurance or who are ineligible for Medicare or Medicaid will have to enroll in a health insurance plan using the online health-insurance exchanges. This also means that individuals who have been unable to obtain health insurance in the past, and who when becoming sick would simply go to the nearest Hospital Emergency Center, driving the price of health care higher and higher, will now have to seek health insurance or pay the tax penalty. Now, No one ever plans to get sick or hurt, but everyone needs health care at some point in life. Having quality, affordable health insurance protects you— your wallet, and it also protects the taxpayers from having to pay for the more than 30% of our Lee County’s uninsured, and who normally seek care through Emergency Room visits. That’s not a healthy solution. Now is the time for our elected officials to do their job. To do what they were elected to do. Today I delivered a letter to district 79 State Representative Matt Caldwell, asking him to show leadership and to stop playing with the health of thousands of uninsured residents of Lee County and district 79. Representative Caldwell has already hurt our state by refusing to accept federal funds in the amount of $5.1 Billion Dollars for Medicaid Expansion. That’s $51 Billion over 10 years. The Affordable Care Act is the Law of the land. Because local officials, including Matt Caldwell, have neglected their responsibilities to the voters they work for, I’m announcing today, a series of public information forums to help the public understand their options under the new law. I urge Representative Matt Caldwell to join us next week Tuesday, October 8th, at the Veteran’s Park Community Center so that he can help answer questions on the new health care law and support the courageous volunteers, the navigators and Certified Application Counselors on hand to conduct one-on-one counseling and assistance in the use of new health-care exchanges. Sincerely, Larry Aguilar Candidate State Representative District 79 239-919-4777 Working for your Future ElectLarryAguilar
