He skipped the entirety of the 38th Season of the Philippine Basketball Association and was loaned to the San Miguel Beermen in the ASEAN Basketball League. In his first game back in the PBA, he was matched up against young guns Arwind Santos, JuneMar Fajardo and Doug Kramer of the Petron Blaze Boosters. The 39-year-old, former league MVP logged 20 minutes and had six points, five rebounds and a steal. GlobalPort lost that game by 10. Just three days after, Menk saw action and started for the Batang Pier squad, which bounced back and registered their first win in the Philippine Cup with a 114-100 decision over the Air 21 Express. He went up against Asi Taulava – who put up solid numbers of 21 points and 15 rebounds – and had a near double-double performance himself, chalking up seven markers while corralling 10 boards.
