It’s not a fight between Republicans and Democrats. It’s not even a fight over immigration reform. This is a fight over whether this branch of government (Congress) will ever find the courage to stand up for itself. The time-tested Constitution (which all Presidents swear to defend) says that “Congress” passes law and the Chief Executive makes sure that the laws are faithfully enforced. If we do not protect our Constitutional equilibrium of the branches of government, the balance of powers, we risk destroying our democracy and creating a monarchy with the potential of tyranny.
