It’s something beyond norms... Part 40 (b) Baani- “See this bride.” I said and flaunted in front of the mirror. “You suck. I am going out; I am feeling so claustrophobic with you.” Aparna roared and gave me a weird look. I smiled happily on her departure and snatched my phone. “Mom, she left.” I called my mom. I slowly followed Aparna after disconnecting the call. I wanted to see her face when she sees her parents after so long. Faces of her parents would say nothing different. She went downstairs, I spotted her from above. She was visiting one room after another to find someone. She opened one door and entered inside. I quickly stepped down and rushed to reach the room. I opened the gate a bit and peeped inside. “Mom.” “Aparna.” They both called each other, there was distance between them, and my mom was sitting on the chair with Navya in her hands. The mother daughter love didn’t fluctuate a bit. They both were in tears and finally Aparna started moving slowly. She too came near Aparna and started touching her everywhere. Her face, her arms, her head, her hair and finally she held her tightly in her arms. There were loud yet calm cries. They both drowned in the pool of tears and emotions. Mom was looking at them quietly. Her lashes were about to flow her feelings but she controlled things before they appeared. I thought that it was the correct moment for me to enter. “Surprise.” I said loudly and hugged both of them. “When, how, I mean....” Aparna’s mom said while sniffing. “It was our idea to hide this.” Mom said and came near us with Navya. “But you said that she wouldn’t come.” Her mom tried to understand. “It was a lie. Sorry.” Mom said. “Is she your daughter?” She asked while looking at Navya. “Yes mom.” Aparna took Navya in her hands and gave her to her mom. “She is just like our son-in-law.” She said while kissing her forehead. “Baani beta can you please call her dad from outside.” She said. I nodded and left. I started running here and there, searching for Aparna’s dad. Finally I located him near pool sitting with my dad. “Namaste uncle.” I said while breathing heavily and touched his feet. “Namaste beta. Congratulations.” He said and touched my head for showering his blessings. “Aunty is calling you inside.” “Why?” He enquired. “I don’t know uncle.” I lied. As he woke up, I smiled and winked while looking at my dad and started following him. He didn’t bother to talk while walking. We reached the room and he stood there numb after seeing the scene. “Here.” Aparna’s mom came and handed over Navya to him. He took her carefully in his arms. He was looking at her carefully, trying to control his tears but his hazy eyes covered by spectacles said his story clearly. “Dad...” Aparna said and came near him. He handed Navya to me and went near Aparna. They both were looking at each other in silence. The silence was saying the stories. Aparna was apologizing for her acts and her father was apologizing for his harshness silently. The bond between them was broken after she left her home and nobody tried to freshen things up. It was hard but yet nobody bothered to initiate things majorly. The distance created void atmosphere in their lives and now we could see the happenings through this silence. Aparna went forward to touch his feet but he stopped her in between holding her arms and raised her again. “Dad I am sorry for hurting you.” Aparna said and folded her hands in front of his dad. “Beta please. Don’t embarrass me.” He said and held her daughter tightly. We were very touched by the gestures they bestowed in front of each other. Parents have a huge heart; they forgive everything with lot of warmth and love. “Aunty, thank you for everything.” Aparna came near my mom and touched her feet out of affection. “You are like my Baani only.” She said and held her near her heart..... Surya- “Aparna, Aparna, ohh.....” I was calling out Aparna to see the lights arrangement but I saw a lot of people gathering her. Everyone turned towards me and then I realized that they were her parents. “Hey Surya, look my parents came.” Aparna chirped with bliss. “Namaste uncle, Namaste aunty, how are you?” I asked with delighted heart and touched their feet. “We are good beta, congratulations for your wedding.” Her dad said and gave me and Baani blessings. We greeted smiles to each other and I asked Aparna to come and see the work of the light man. Aparna’s dad came for help as well. I tried not to look at Baani because we had strict restrictions on talking and seeing each other silently. It was hard but due to her mother’s presence it became manageable. *** “Those golden lights should be here on the bushes.” Aparna suggested after seeing the environment. “Yeah maybe you right.” I said while inspecting the things she suggested. “What you think uncle?” I asked her dad. “I think she is right. The golden lights would suit the large bushes, the entrance and sideways would look very nice.” He said while seeing here and there. “Bhaiya... ooo, bhaiya, zara suno.” I said loudly to call a worker. “Haan bhaiyaji.” He came near and responded. “Ye golden lights in jhadiyo pe laga do.” I said while pointing towards the lights. “Theek hai bhaiyaji.” He said and picked up the bunch of lights. “Come uncle lets have something.” I said and touched his shoulder. “Yeah let’s go.” I said and moved with him. Aparna didn’t accompany us; she left for the room. *** “So have you forgiven her.” Baani’s dad asked Aparna’s dad. “Yeah, sometimes we need to let go of our ego for that unseen smile hiding inside us.” He said with a smile while sipping tea. “Nice to hear that, your grand-daughter is very pretty.” Dad spoke next. “I can say the same for you.” Aparna’s dad said and helped in leaving a smile on the faces of three of us.... Hey guys, sorry for yesterdays gap... ;) In some hours Surya and Baani would unite in one soul residing in two structures... :) Stay tuned to read the next phases... :) Please spend some time in leaving reviews.... :) JP
