It’s with very sad hearts that we are sharing the passing of our precious dog, Toby. Toby died at home yesterday. If dogs were allowed to have obituaries this is how our Toby’s would read. Toby Kovacs, 09/20/1999 to 08/01/13, He was fifty days short of turning 14. (68 – 79 in dog years). His adopted parents are John & Carin Kovacs, of the home. Toby was originally obtained via an ad in the Kenosha, WI newspaper. He was born on a farm in Illinois. His parents were a Springer Spaniel & and an Australian Sheppard, neighbor dogs that hooked up one night. Toby was advertised for fifty dollars and I talked them down to forty-five. John always told Toby “Mommy wouldn’t pay full price for you.” Little did I know that we would later be willing to pay anything just to keep him. We brought Toby home and welcomed him with loving arms and hearts. He has helped us grow up and become more loving and caring humans. He taught us to celebrate each time we arrived home safely, to welcome each other home as if they had been gone for days - even if it had only been ten minutes, to be happy each time we poop and that being sweet really does make people love you. He was a teacher of unconditional love & excelled at it. Toby had many hobbies. He was a HUGE fan of naps, chasing rabbits – he caught two in his younger days, sun bathing, humping arms & legs, playing with his toys, beating up his toys, and licking his toys until they were all wet & slobbery. He loved looking at the visiting standard poodle in our neighborhood; he would stare until you made him come inside. He ate a homemade dog bed & Christmas tree lights when he was a puppy. Toby loved to eat. His favorite dog treats were White bones and milk bones. He loved most all human food, but a few special ones were peanut butter, McDonald’s hamburgers, ice cream, chocolate, potato chips, popcorn, watermelon, and any and all meat. He really LOVED summer sausage. He would jump up and steal it from your hand while you were eating it. For this reason, we stopped serving it at party’s years ago. Toby enjoyed car rides most of all. He loved being in the back of the highlander and sticking his head out the window. He enjoyed trips and had been to Missouri & Wisconsin this year. It hasn’t even been quite 24 hours since our loss and we already miss him so much. He was the child we were never blessed with. The bed seems too big now, the house too quiet, no jingle of his collar, no clicking of his nails on the floor, no toys all over the place, and no bells being rung to go outside. He will always be our baby. He is irreplaceable. We love you Toby Kovacs. You will never know how much you meant to us. Rest in peace, Toby Angel. Play with Grandma Sara until we meet again. XoxO. Thanks for all the love & support so many of you have already extended to us. Give your dog some extra love this weekend in honor of Toby. Love, John & Carin
