Ive always considered myself to be blessed. I have never been without three crucial elements that I feel we all need to survive in this sometimes dark and treacherous world: love, nourishment and shelter. I also have the esteemed pleasure to raise two of the most fascinating and magnificent little people on Gods green Earth. My son had an assignment a few months back and we were both to participate. I had to compose a letter to future Micah who was embarking on graduating high-school and preparing to conquer his goals. The other part of the assignment was for him to choose role models in his life whom he knew personally and admired or figures in modern culture or past icons of which he based his goals and future aspirations upon. Heres his unedited part of his assignment. THE PEOPLE I LOOK UP TO There are many different people that I look up to in this world. They all range from different backgrounds such as architectural to military. There are certain people in this world that have required traits to get through life. Most of the time these kind of people are leaders. They attempt to do the right thing and not get involved in things that can get them in trouble. These are two people that I admire most. The number one person I admire would be my mother. She has always been there for me no matter what. At a certain point in time some bad stuff was going on in my family. My mom was there to comfort me when times were tough. As this went on she would always say, What happened was in the past; there is always a new day ahead. Currently my mom is 40 and has been interested in a new hobby of yoga. She is very good natured and fun to be around. I admire her because she has that push that can get me to do anything that I want to do. She is very motivational and kind hearted, and when it comes down to it she can do anything she puts her mind to. The second person I admire would be Bill Gates. I know it seems odd that I would admire someone like him be he is very inspirational. He made a company, with former entrepreneur Steve Jobs, out if his garage. Once creating Microsoft, he became very famous by making computers and other software. I look up to Bill because he has created something that no one else has done before. He has pushed through many problems like when Microsoft was first developing people became older and lost interest in buying his products. There are many people that I admire in this world. There are certain standards that these people have to meet for me to admire them. It might not matter to them but even so I still think that they are very likable people. My mother is the first not because she is part of my family, it is because she is my friend and has supported me very well and very often. Overall I think they are wonderful people and I think they deserve more respect.
