Ive always held distrust for boxes. The gender box, the age box, the class box, the status box, the stay within the lines box, the color box, the safe box, the left box, the right box, the religious box, the majority box, the music box, the popular box, the pretty box, the smart box, the obedient box... All these boxes that are designed to capture and preserve. To stamp complexities into homogenized catagories. To inspire love and hate. I dont trust these boxes. Throughout life I wander into and out of many boxes, yet I am never a resident of them. When others think I am, theyre mistaken. I live from within the box called my skull, and this box I trust because Im free to live out of it without constraint. I dont trust those other boxes. I dont dislike those who choose them, but I am not enticed by their numbers or seeming benefits, and I cannot help but see the individuality of each self-identified member within them. No box can offer me any treasure that compares with free choice and free will. No guarantees of security can trump the magical possibilities and the unexpected surprises encountered on my journey of life. Ive made good choices and bad. I own them all. They are mine and under the surface, even the worst of the bad have revealed their value. You are free to offer advice, assistance or the fine art of your persuasion, but do not attempt to mandate me into your box, especially for my own good. It is not who I am. I will not comply.
