Ive always supported a flat tax and a national sales tax. With a national sales tax, you are only taxed on what you buy. With a flat tax, no matter what you make, everyone is taxed the same percentage (this would eliminate the IRS - the only branch of government that states you are guilty until you can prove your innocence).
