Ive always wished to become a Senior Counsel and it is for this reason that i enrolled for LL.B... That is my ultimate dream in my life, But have having learned of what it takes one to become SC. I feel like giving up, look, One needs to be affilliated to the bar of advocates, to go there, u serve pupilage for one year and write a bar exam at the end of the year and then be admitted as an advocate of the bar (Junior Counsel) . Pupilage is unpaid but a very demanding learning experience. Now to be appointed as a SC, You need atleast 15 years experience and not just ordinary experience, You must have handled high profile cases in the country, Not just small peanuts. And to get those high profile cases, You need a very long extensive experience of proven success. Again, Politicians (President) are the ones who have ultimate power of appointing you as the Senior Counsel. So while you are working hard, you must affiliate yourself with the Ruling Party in order to be recognised. See what it takes to be Adv Gerrie Nel SC ??? Surely this is a long path to success, By the time ure appointed as SC you will be 60 years Old :(
