Ive been a aircraft pilot for 39 years. I missed the opportunity to experience the Glory Days of Aviation. However, I have sadly witnessed the slow deterioration of General Aviation over the span of my years. The general small aircraft fleet is a dismal mess involving ancient machines held together by money, spare parts and spirituality. I applaude ccontrollers whom day after day calmy guide 80 mph two seaters into an environment straddled with multi million dollar passenger craft. The authorities know that they dont have provoke that group with regulation, rather just let them die of old age. I never thought I would say this, but any young person that considering entering into recreational flying better put aside his passion and seriously ask themselves if the massive investment of time and money can be justified. Our airpsace is divided into two spheres... High and Low. General aviations lower half has just been invaded by the next generation of aircraft. The factor of personal safety and loss of life have been completely eliminated from the equation. Birds strikes will be a breeze after one of these food processors hits your screen and Moms about to experience her first UFO....think about it
