Ive been a competitive swimmer since the tender age of 6; after my first practice, I was hooked for life. And so, 14 years later at the age of 20, I was lucky enough to get a scholarship in US. Here I am, being a part of College Swimming. As a freshman, I entered to the University , in which there was a full of curiosity and excitement. I wanted a big career; I wanted to be a big man, and to have a big life. I had to think big- thats the only way to get... I just couldt stand being anonymous. Right now Im spending most of my time at the pool swimming and studying. Being a college athlete is probably the most exciting and beneficial experience that I ever had. The day I came to school, I already had around 50 new friends. Cool, ha? Sweet Home was called the place that I lived for my first 2 years of college. Probably the most beautiful school in the country. New coach. New friends. New country. New culture. Weird ass people. Alabama was fun!!! After 2 years I was looking for something else, so I ended up in Inferno. A place where straight lava comes out off the sink faucet and where the term cold doesnt exist in their vocabulary. Yes, Im here in Arizona where everybodys last name is Party. Arizona State University- hmmmm, such a cool place. 😌 Anyway, back to the point. In college swimming I was very dedicated. Every day Im struggling with this cruel sport that I love, barely able to keep my eyes open at any hour of the day. I always look like a zombie. Sometimes, Im so tired I cant even remember how to walk. Its very sad. Thats just a regular day for me. Its long and painful. But when you go to the meets and get your times and qualify for other meets, its all worth it. Gold medals are not made from gold but they are made from sweat, pain, dedication next to all of my partners in crime, my teammates. The team becomes your second family; all the pain, and all the triumphs, are shared by people whove seen you at your best and worst. Its pretty awesome. Well, Im in my fourth year of swimming and is about to end ! Pretty sad, but Im not going to retire, yet. I still have a lot of dreams that I have to make them reality. My coaches had a really big impact in my swimming career. Adi and later on , Stefan and Sonya made me into the person I have become over the past years. I couldnt be more grateful to them! Alabama and Arizona State will always be a part of me thats going to last forever. After walking through that door as a Sun Devil, another chapter of my life is about to start. And I already did It. Life as a college swimmer is over for me. Let me tell you it is not an easy thing being a student-athlete, it is actually ridiculously hard. But every moment is worth it. Who Am I? Sun Devil for Life!
