Ive been challenged by the utterly brilliant he can make anything Andre Masters to do the Art Chain thing - i.e. post bits of my / my and Adams art for 5 days and each day nominate one of my friends to do the same. Nice to re-visit funny old jobs, and great to see other peoples creativity on here :) Ill start by digging out (!) some of my garden designs - I love gardening, although I dont really know what Im doing. There is nothing better than being outside and seeing stuff change and grow. My friend Dejah dragged me to Kew when shed heard my design for Hampton Court had been accepted, as she was so horrified by my lack of experience - she said if you do get a medal, you can say that you were not constrained by any knowledge or expertise. We got a gold :) and I think she was right - the judges said We love the way you have completely disregarded the rules.... Rules???? ;) In that first garden, I incorporated the work of wonderful, talented friends Carlos (foxes), Lynn and Simon (butterflies and faces), and Stanger (mushrooms), and another friend Nick helped plant it. It was bloomin hard work, but a really great experience. Ive since done six more, most often now working for another garden designer, so she does the hard part and I just show up with some metalwork. Ironwork is easier, because it stays where you put it. Ive done all kinds of stuff for her, from a donkey for her A Midsummer Nights Dream garden, to crown planters and railings for her Jubilee garden. The last piece I did for her was a sunflower patio centre in stainless steel for an RHS charity garden. Without great clients, we wouldnt have a job. I nominate the delightful, exuberant Oenone Cobbold xx
