Ive been doing some thinking and this is what Ive concluded; I dont want to write a travel blog that tells you where to eat, where to sleep and what to do. How could I? I cant eat everything and sleep everywhere and do everything to give you an accurate idea. Im not that person. I cant tell you what to do or where to go - the world is an ever changing place that differs from one month to the next. My experience is mine alone, dictated by chance, opportunity and timing. So what is this? At first I thought it was the above. A blog detailing what Ive done and what Ive seen. But who cares right? You want your own adventures, not mine. So instead, Im not writing about the best places to eat chorizo on a cloudy afternoon, or the best places to get a mojito in such and such a place. I will of course write about sailing because I am sailing from country to country, but honestly? Ill be writing about the micro, the depth, the stuff that makes you sick because you know you cant share it with anyone. Except I can. And I will try. I will try to share those tiny, infinitesimal feelings and experiences of such intensity, you wonder how youll even exist beyond them. Because life isnt the great gallumping generality that we see stretching before us. Life is the immediate, stomach-punching awe that we experience from the tiny, incredible things. The mole that falls down a cliff in front of our eyes, the comet that streaks across our skies and the sensation of the sun breaking through the clouds. I want to leave something beautiful with you. I hope I do.
