Ive been gradually moving out of this house. I have to be completely out on Sunday. There is just one snag: I still havent found a place to live. I must have answered over a dozen ads in Craigslist that were looking for someone to rent their room in an apartment or house, all reasonable monthly rates, all in North Hollywood, and all within a close distance to the Metro Red Line station. So far, no one has returned my calls or emails. Now I have to do what I didnt want to do: Im temporarily going to stay over at Paul Harts place in Glendale. I have to sleep in the living room and lay my clothes out for work, and I also now have to take a Metro bus to downtown, which makes the trip twice as long than taking the Red Line. I hope his wi-fi connection works for me; it didnt when I stayed there a year and a half ago. At least he was willing to help. And I am helping him by paying him a reasonable weekly rate. I need to keep looking for a place to stay in North Hollywood. I have the money for rent and deposit; thats no problem. The problem is getting someone to call back. I have tried to avoid the twenty-somethings who want only wannabes like themselves. Perhaps they may think that someone working for the County isnt artistic enough. Such ignorance has to be pitied. Anyway, it has been harder to get a response than the last two times. Of course, we know what happened the last two times. It made me wonder if I wasnt a magnet for assholes. I could say that its too bad I cannot afford the rent for a place of my own these days, but that doesnt change the fact that I need a place to live, period. Maybe next week Ill have better luck. There are still six more days left in July.
