Ive been meaning to write this for a while, and Blake hasnt been blowing up my phone today, so the silence is making me worried. ;) Anyway, Im one of the participants, and I seem to have garnered a local reputation for specializing in film photography. Not to put down digital, as I shoot some digital myself, but I find that film gives me a particular hands-on experience, of realness, of tangibility -- and thus, a sense of personal accomplishment and control of my art. Many photographers who would otherwise dabble in film get discouraged by what they perceive as films unreliability, or think that it costs more than digital. During Love/Lust, Ill be using several kinds of film cameras, and Ill be demonstrating how to develop your own film. Ill be shooting 35mm, medium format, and 4x5 large format, and developing both B&W and C-41 process color negative. So make room in your gear bag for that old film camera youve been neglecting!
