Ive been tagged by two others to list the ten books that have made the biggest impression/impact on me and have stayed with me throughout the years. You guys know the drill. Coming up with this was fairly easy, Ill admit. What are your favorite 10 books? Be sure to tag others... 1) We Have Always Lived in the Castle //-// The Lottery and Other Stories = Shirley Jackson (My favorite author of all time, I cant just pick one - gotta pick two!) 2) Night Shift = Stephen King (My favorite author during the 70s and 80s. Night Shift, in my estimation, is still the best short story collection I have ever read) 3) Hell House = Richard Matheson (The perfect haunted house novel) 4) Carrion Comfort = Dan Simmons (Screw Twilights nice, sparkly vampires. Simmons blood-suckers are vicious, horrifying creatures) 5) No Country for Old Men = Cormac McCarthy (Probably the most gifted American novelist writing today) 6) The Ruins = Scott Smith (A novel that scared the hell out of me; the movie based off this book sucked. Sadly, Smith has only written 2 novels) 7) The Wolfs Hour = Robert McCammon (My favorite horror author for most of the late 80s. I struggled over this one - Swan Song and Stinger were also excellent reads) 8) Forever War = Joe Haldeman (Still my favorite science fiction novel of all time, though I almost selected Roger Zelanzys Damnation Alley) 9) The Hunger and Other Stories = Charles Beaumont (One of the few writers who the great Richard Matheson said was better than him. Died at an early age) 10) Lord of the Flies = William Golding (My favorite classic. A brilliant novel that still holds up well today).
