Ive been thinking a lot lately, about a situation that has really been on my heart. I have a good friend, who at times travels overseas, and trains people to do security in other nations. He recently introduced me, through Face Book, to a young father named Jeremy, who he has worked with personally, and has very high regard for. Jeremy wrote to him, explaining that due to the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia, he has not been allowed to go to work in months. Much of the city is shut down, because such a high percentage of the people are infected. Life as they knew it has not only come to a stand still, now there is little if anything to eat. Prices have skyrocketed, and since so few are working, many are not able to feed their children. While we Americans have been freaking out about a few cases here in the US (and I clearly understand why we should)...Jeremy is dealing with a full blown epidemic, that while it has not yet infected his home, is preventing him from feeding his own children! If I am able to come up with a cost effective way to ship food and healthcare items to Jeremy, which he would share with his family and neighbors...would you come onboard to help? Or is this something we in the US dont care about? We have thousands of hurting here after all. My friend and I are committing to do something for this fine young man and his family. I am pledging $500 of my personal funds to kick things off, and I ask you to pray about coming alongside us asap. I do know they need this help FAST! I dont have a fully outlined plan yet, but think the fastest, most effective way, is to take donations of cash, checks or grocery store gift cards. All donations will go through UPB4 the Son Charities, and be tax deductible. We may be able to set up some drop offpoints for those who want to donate specific items, but that may be more than we can handle right away. We will pull together a team to quickly shop the best prices, and most efficient and nutritious foods, that dont weigh a lot...and ship them asap. I understand the US Postal service has an affordable way to get it there. Within days, we will all be consumed with the always important local holiday food drives. Im praying your heart will prompt you to quickly donate to someone far away, for a family weve never met, who needs some help to survive a tragedy...that someday could hit us too. UPB4 Son 2016 CENTRAL SW #7311 ABQ NM 87194 I will edit and post parts of Jeremys letter in the comments section below. Even if you cant or wont donate, please pray that many others will. From the bottom of my heart, thanks for considering this project.
