Ive been told more than once that female-fronted bands cant get airplay on US radio unless they fit into pretty rigidly-defined categories. The fact that Skunk Anansie, who apparently is HUGE all through Europe and has been featured on the soundtracks of two major-release American movies has had no US airplay in the 20 years since their inception pretty much proves it for me. They have a huge range, from ballad to Rage Against the Machine-level aggro, and the lead singer, Skin, has an amazing voice.
