Ive got a lot of opinions that I usually keep to myself, but here are a couple: 1.Columbus Day is a horrible holiday, and we should stop celebrating it, especially when all the celebration amounts to is using our tax dollars to give federal employees a day off (if theyre not already furloughed)- oh and bankers get the day off too, creating an inconvenience for the rest of us. 2. Obama should play hardball, and instead of saying no to all the ridiculous Republican motions, counter with better ones, like putting the Public Option back in the Affordable Care Act. If that doesnt work, bring the entire House majority up on terrorism charges, for bringing pain and suffering to hundreds of thousands of furloughed employees, and the citizens that rely on their service, all for a misguided ideological agenda. 3. Ban Fracking. 4. Make it illegal to own stocks or bonds other than US treasury or municipal bonds if you are an elected official, your only allegiance should be with the state and people that you serve. 5. All lobbying should be restricted to televised (or otherwise publicly accessible) debates between parties for and against certain agendas. Policy shouldnt be shaped by salesmen, but by science and research. 6. Theres always room for cake and ice cream
