Ive had all day to try to think of what to say about Sam. Its so hard to accept that someone so sweet, caring, fun, and happy could be gone so soon. Sam was a senior at Robertson County High School but made such strong connections with so many at other area schools that any of them could claim her. Ive seen so many pictures of her today with so many of her friends. I lost track of how many times Ive hit the like button on here and instagram. She was a huge high school basketball fan. She loved her Black Devils but also loved the Augusta Panthers. Shed always let me know when she listened online to me do play by play. When Id finish and check my messages, Id find one from her telling me another great broadcast. The first time I ever interacted with her was when she sent me a message asking if I could get her an Augusta Panther shirt so she could properly cheer on the Panthers. I didnt get to give her the shirt myself but was told she was so excited to get it. And not to worry, she made sure to thank me. I was so honored the night we played at Nicholas County and, after making sure she was listening, I gave her a shoutout. It made me feel so good that I could do something to make her smile and feel good because she spent so much time making all of us smile and forget about whatever might be wrong with us and never reminding us what was wrong with her. We all knew but she felt the pain and struggled but she lived every day like it wasnt happening. She often spoke of her future and what she planned to do while we all prayed she would achieve her dreams. Her journey ended way too soon. Shes now a very busy angel because all of us left behind, family and friends, have broken hearts that need mending. Time will pass and our wounds will heal but the way she touched so many lives will be with each of us forever. Thank you God for allowing me to know one of your most amazing creations. And thank you Samantha Kaye Bustos for being one of the most beautiful and inspiring people I will ever know. Rest in Peace. #SamStrong #TeamSamanthaForever
