Ive had numerous people-women and men of all shapes,ages and races-tell me they wouldnt go to yoga classes because they feel they dont look right. Ive delved deeper to find its less about the old Im not flexible chestnut and more about what they perceive as the yoga image out there in the media,and worrying theyll be made to feel out of place.This makes me sad.But I understand some of these feelings.A long time ago,during a class at a well-know yoga centre I added if there was a modification for a particular pose.The teacher responded that I should sit the pies out because I was a bit shot. I was stunned into silence and embarrassed.Its kind of thing some people fear happening to them ,however unlikely.
