Ive had some dark times yall. Ive felt hopeless and alone. Ive felt broken, and chewed up, and so turned out that I didnt know which direction was forward. And at times, the relief that came out of considering the escape hatch that ending my own life represented, has been the only thing thats prevented me from going ahead with it. I understand that pain. We, as men especially, have built a society for ourselves that places value in strength and shame on reaching out for help; even to the closest of friends, and sometimes, especially to them. Were not going to end that here and now, but it starts with sharing our stories. Depression is not something to be ashamed of. Its something that needs to be processed and brought to the light of day. If any of you is ever feeling this way, you are NOT alone and my phone is ALWAYS on to go get a midnight cup of coffee and talk shit out. This Sunday at 1:00, a couple of the miscreants and I are participating in the Out of Darkness walk to support The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, around Greenlake and Id love to have you with us. This is a yearly event. I donated $50, but you dont have to in order to participate; support in any form means the world to friends and family. Were gonna grab some brunch and a Bloody Mary before, so youre welcome to join for that, as well. LMK if youd be interested in being a part of Team Awesome and I can loop you in.
