Ive heard some super negative shit about my music over the past few days. Honestly - any time that someone voices an opinion which opposes your owns thoughts regarding a subject - ESPECIALLY something you deeply care about - it bugs you. Sometimes a little. Sometimes a lot. I rarely respond to that type of nonsense, but, today I thought about it a little bit. I figured out how I feel about the whole thing relatively quick, I think. If you LOVE my music - thats a win. If you HATE my music - thats a win. If you feel INDIFFERENT to my music - thats a catastrophic loss. I make music to provoke a REAL emotional response. If that response is intensely positive OR intensely negative - its the same thing, really. Mission accomplished. I NEVER want to make music that makes people think Well, I could take it or leave. I dont love it and I dont hate it...its just whatever. Any art that leaves someone feeling like they didnt feel anything is the real failure.
