Ive just done (what I think) is a really intelligent calculation, baring in mind my maths is horrendous. So... based on driving distance from Manchester to Font Romeu being 1,023 miles and a car travelling typically at 40 mpg Ive worked out this should only require two full tanks costing around £158, to get one way (so double for return). That should equate to £62pp based on 10 people filling two 5 seater cars. A return channel tunnel crossing will set us back about £120 per car, so again divided by 5 would be £24pp. So per person including petrol and travel cost it comes to a total of around £86. 86 quid to get there and back plus we wouldnt have to fork out £100 each for car rental. Of course wed use more petrol whilst we are out there but we had that same task with rented cars. All in all a large saving should be made. Also may I add this is of course dependant on what MPG the cars that wed travel in actually do, it may be less or greater than 40mpg but I thought that was a suitable average.
