Ive just finished A Memory of Light, book 14 in the Wheel of Time cycle by Robert Jordan. Each of these books is over 1000 pages long, and I read the first one when I was 15 (when I was a fantasy/sci-fi nerd). Jordan died after book 11, and had lost the spark a little in his last few. His estate commissioned Brendan Sanderson to complete the series based on Jordans notes, and Sanderson brought back verve, excitement and readability - the last book is a masterclass in how to tell a huge story in a page turning way - with the last battle between good and evil recounted in detail for the full book. A fitting end - and I feel in a number of ways that Ive completed an era! :))
