Ive just sent this email to Peter Wright at the Yarra Ranges Council. Hi Peter, Having just read your reply to Coral Teagues enquiry about the Cat curfew I understand that the council over a 4 month period extensively consulted the community over the introduction of a 24 hour cat curfew. The fact still remains that the majority of the community had no idea this was on the agenda and by the time we knew it was too late to have our say. What I find amazing is that you managed to inform every cat owning resident by letter that this had not only been voted on but when it was going to commence. Im thinking a simple letter sent to all residents might have been a simpler, cheaper and more democratic way of handling this highly emotive topic. Forget the right and wrongs of the curfew, most people will ignore it anyway, it seems to me you seriously need to look at your extensive consultation process! A simple letter drop managed to do the job your extensive community consultation process did not! You admit that most residents did not know about the curfew so as you havent heard our concerns and you think that this is the right way to go how about a public meeting and lets put it to the test.
