Ive known about Police intelligence gathering in bars in Auckland for years and I consider myself to be very proactive at promoting responsible drinking and upholding Licencing Laws and I do sometimes feel like we get picked on a bit but I understand that if the police didnt check up on licensed premises on a regular basis that there are operators out there that would just start taking the piss and flouting the law but the way I see it no bar manager wants heavily intoxicated people in their establishments… they are argumentative, abusive, destructive and have a tendency to leave piles of smelly stomach contents on your floors that you have to clean up after them and these are the things that have always made me encourage people to drink water and eat food and pace themselves.
